FMP Week 2

Week 2 I started on some research. As the project was a Spider-Man fan film I opted to research more on the fan film genre instead of the traditional Spider-Man films. Whilst I did have a look at both fan films and professional Spider-Man productions I ultimately found that while looking for different shot types and how I wanted the film to look in generally the fan films where more realistic and achievable compared to the high budget production films. I looked closely at the works from Jesse Scimeca and Scean Bichimer. Both had produced Spider-Man fan films that I took direct inspiration from such as how to position the camera for fight choreography. The fight scenes are a big challenge for our film as we are not professional stunt choreographers nor have training in fight scenes, so we had to learn from what media we could find and learnt from our teacher Elliot. What I learnt the most from looking at fan films for fight choreography is that the camera should be facing behind the subject that's getting “hit” as it’s easier to mask that there was no contact. While this does make one shot look realistic, it will be difficult to implement as we have 2 characters fighting in quick hand-hand combat. To counteract this, I will be trying to shift the camera around for the punches and have almost a quick montage for the fight scene.
